CAREER
I am a graduate of Wayne State University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science in May 1996. My minor was English. I currently work for Editorial Code and Data, Inc., a company that provides typesetting, editorial, data processing, and other information services. My job as programmer is to do some typesetting, editing, proofreading, and programming of client applications and of our own products.
Over the years, I have programmed in Pascal, Delphi, C++, Visual Basic, Access Basic, Postscript, and HTML. Some of the software packages I’ve used are: Borland Pascal 7.0, Delphi 2.0-4.0, 2005 and 2007, Visual Basic 5.0, Access97, Access 2000, Visual Interdev 6.0, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Distiller, Microsoft Office, WordStar, and Pitstop Professional. Currently I mostly work with Delphi 2007, Borland Pascal 7.0, Postscript, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Distiller, Pitstop Professional, and Access 2000.
OTHER INTERESTS
Aside from my interest in computers, I like to read, listen to music, watch TV, and occasionally, though not recently, needlepoint, cross-stitch, and crochet. I also enjoy taking walks in the park, going to art museums, botanical gardens, and the zoo. Spending quiet time with my husband is also a joy for me.
I like to read fiction. I’m quite fond of the Mitford series of books. My husband and I have taken an interest in Lillian Jackson Braun’s The Cat Who… series of books. We like to take turns reading to each other. I hate romance novels. The music I listen to is mostly new age, classical, jazz, some folk, and soft rock now but my music tastes change often depending upon what type of mood I am in so who knows what type of music I will be listening to next month.
As for my favorite TV show of all time, that would be The X-Files hands down. I’m also a big soap opera fan and watch Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful whenever I can, which is not very often, since I work daily. I also enjoy watching old movies and am currently on a mission to see all of Harold Lloyd’s surviving films and all of Cary Grant’s films. Not a small feat since each made dozens of them. As of now, I’ve seen 55 Cary Grant films and 36 Harold Lloyd films Thank heavens for Netflix! My favorite actors are Harold Lloyd, Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn. My favorite movies of all time are The Sound of Music, Bringing Up Baby, I Do, and Girl Shy.
