Escape
I want to soar through the sky,
To see far-off places
Where others do not know.
I want to perch
Near a shimmering stream
And watch the
Diamond-like speckles of sunlight
Dance across the water
As the light of day
Fades into dusk.

The Road of Life
We all walk down
the road of life
blindly
having faith
that through the
twists and turns
and forks in the road
the path we choose
will lead our souls
to an ultimate happiness
unbounded.

Our Unique Love Song
Sitting upon a secluded beach
Watching the sun slowly set below the horizon
Holding each other close
Quietly watching nature’s spectacle
Accompanied only by the music of our beating hearts.
As the sun’s golden glow fades
Into the darkness of night
Our two hearts beat as one
Beating to the rhythm of our own unique love song.
As the cool night air
Gently covers the earth
We look into each other’s eyes
And feel only the warmth of the love we share.
Kissing each other tenderly
Enveloped in the warmth of our love
Hearing the sweet love song,
Our hearts beating as one,
Our souls join in a never-ending embrace.
— Published in the anthology: Davis, Patty, Voices of Nature, The International Library of Poetry, 2001, p. 161.
